Happy Holidays! If you’re anything like me, the new year means a fresh start, and that means purging all the junk that has accumulated over the past year. How do we do that properly?
Typically, you could take the clutter to your nearest recycling facility or call a junk removal service that works in your area, but it is always important to ensure they can take what you wish to recycle.
For example, my family has an old tube TV that needs to go. Assuming the TV cannot be sold, donated, or given away, you might wonder where to dispose of it. Not all facilities will take specific electronic waste.
In particular, the recycling facilities in Cherokee County (470 Blalock Road in Canton and Hobgood Park at 6688 Bells Ferry Road) explicitly mention in their section of what to bring to their recycling centers that they do not accept tube style or projection televisions.
Therefore, the next step would be looking for the nearest E-waste recycling facilites or calling a junk removal company. There are no facilities in Cherokee County, but there are some in other areas like Holly Springs. JunkMan Jon, for example, is a recycling facility that serves Holly Springs and other nearby areas like Canton, Ballground, Alpharetta, and more. This service offers removal of electronic waste in a safe and eco-friendly way.
There are additional options such as taking your electronics to stores such as Best Buy where they will take old electronics you might want to get rid of or selling your old electronics through Facebook Marketplace. Our tube TV ended up going to a retro gamer who loved to have a big TV like ours!
Happy Purging and remember to recycle!
